SOLOISTS of the ENSEMBLE INTERCONTEMPORAIN

The Ensemble is composed of 31 soloists who share a passion for music XX and XXI century. Under the artistic direction of Susan Mälkki, the musicians work in close collaboration with composers, exploring instrumental techniques and developing projects that interweave music, dance, theater, film, video and visual arts. In the month of September 2013, the conductor and composer Matthias Pintscher happen to Susanna Mälkki as musical director. In collaboration with the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique (IRCAM), the Ensemble Intercontemporain is also active in the generation of synthetic sound. New songs are commissioned and performed regularly. These works enrich the repertoire del'Ensemble that add to the body of the masterpieces of the twentieth century. The ensemble is known for its strong emphasis on music education concerts for children, creative workshops for students, training programs for future artists, conductors, composers,. Since 2004, the Ensemble soloists are guardians for young instrumentalists, conductors and composers in the field of contemporary music at the Lucerne Festival Academy, an educational project of several weeks inside the Lucerne Festival.
The ensemble is based at the Cité de la Musique (Paris) since 1995. He performs and records in France and abroad, participating in major festivals around the world. The Ensemble is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and receives additional support from the City of Paris.
